Yes - you can find the area for registration on the right hand side of the menu bar. Registering will give you full access to all the facilities on the website.

You mention that many Libraries have User Groups and Friends Groups. Irby Library User Group has existed for some considerable time. Friends of Irby Library was established on 1st December 2009 and already has in excess of 230 members. I wonder if you could ensure that this information is shown on site. Also could you give notice of the first General meeting of Friends of Irby Library being held at the Methodist Church Hall, Mill Hill Road, Irby, on 25th March 2010 commencing at 7:30pm. Followed by a talk by award winning Childrens Author Alan Gibbons. The meeting has been kindly sponsored by Wirral Wetrooms, 5 Thingwall Rd., Irby.

Thanks for your email. I've passed it on to Irby Library as they need to be the ones to add the event (It needs to come from their log-in information to enable it to register as an Irby event) and have also asked them to send me some information about the group that I will add to their page.

Missing from old website quality. What happen to access for 19th cntury newspaper at home computer from old website? Also Oxford Dictionaty and others. ? No more www.ancestry.co.uk access at any library ?

The 19c newspapers, Oxford Dictionary, and other resources are still available from our website. If you click on the resources tab you will get a full list of what is available.

To access these resources you have to register with the website (click on the register tab and follow the prompts) and then login (top right of the homepage).

The registration process only needs to be done the once, after that you only need to login when required, to gain access to the resources.

I have had a very negative experience trying to track down a children's book, namely 'The Little Red Hen' by Michael Foreman. I have just double-checked using your Search, and sure enough, there are apparently copies at West Kirby, Wallasey Village and Woodchurch.

Firstly I tried West Kirby - no book, no explanation other than "It must be lost."

Next stop, Woodchurch - not there either, "We sent it to Wallasey."

On to Wallasey Central, who reckoned they sent it to Woodchurch, but informed me that Wallasey Village had a copy.

Guess what - it couldn't be found there either.

I was advised not to order it due to the severe weather conditions, as I wanted it for a specific date to use at a job interview (teaching reception.) My interview is tomorrow, so I guess I'll have to improvise.

To be fair, all staff have been pleasant and willing to help, but how can a computerised system be so wrong?

We apologise for your negative experience and hope it hasn't put you off using the library service.
We will draw this particular book to the attention of our Bibs staff who can update the record.
Currently we are working on updating our catalogue and, hopefully, in the future unfortunate things like this will not happen.

When I access my account, the following message appears -

Registered for Computer Usage: NO

yet I am renewing books, accessing the catalogue and using the on-line resources without any difficulty. So what does this message indicate? Is there another facility which is not available to me?

The Computer Usage refers to being registered to access the public computers which can be done in any Wirral Library by all borrowers.
