Books are Fun!

All children need books, whether for homework or for pleasure. Libraries have lots to choose from, with staff on hand to recommend titles or to help children find the book they want. Childrens’ libraries have much more to offer than just books: for example, there are Baby Bounce & Rhyme sessions, Storytimes for under fives, special activities in school holidays and computers.

It's easy for children to become members.  Parents need only fill in a joining form and provide proof of their address: it’s that simple.

Don’t forget even babies can join -  no one is too young!

Picture Books
A selection of beautifully illustrated books for under fives, which includes board books, stories for reading aloud, pop ups, lift-the-flap books and nursery rhymes, all of which are attractively arranged to appeal to young readers. 

Birkenhead, Bebington and Wallasey Central Libraries, West Kirby, Greasby and Bromborough libraries also have a selection of story cassettes/CDs available. Have lots of fun listening to favourite stories and nursery rhymes!

Fiction
There’s definitely something for everyone in this section, from Blyton to Blume, Dahl to Dickens, new authors and old favourites, long stories and short stories, and Harry Potter is here too!

Teenage Books
A great collection!  A mix of paperbacks and hardbacks ranging from the popular ‘Point Horror’ teenage stories to books that challenge ideas and opinions.

Non-Fiction
All libraries have an extensive collection of factual books ranging from the simple format with bright illustrations, that are an ideal starting point for the enquiring mind, to books selected to cover every need - from the National Curriculum to sport and hobbies.
